Function / Content

This series consists of personal photographs of Mr Underdown. This series includes photographs of the construction of the Alice Springs Hotel, photographs of Mr Underdown, his mother (Daisy Underdown (nee Maloney) brother John and Noonie Underdown. There are also images that may be of Mr Underdown's father (also Lycurgus). None of the images have dates. One image is a framed copy of the rules of roof cricket. This was played on the rooftop of the Alice Springs Hotel. Almost all of these images are framed copyprints and it is likely they were part of the interior decoration of the Alice Springs Hotel. These items came to the Northern Territory Archives Service in a tea chest labelled Ian Cawood. It is highly likely that these items ended up in the possession of Mr Ian Cawood (Ly Jnr's nephew) before transfer to the Northern Territory Archives Service through Mr Bruce Strong.
